How scoring works in Hypnotorious
Hello! I’m Warren Arnold and I directed Hypnotorious in The Jackbox Party Pack 10. You might have some questions about how the scoring works and it just so happens, I have your answers.
First, let’s talk about grouping. Each game will have three categories. Only one person is in a category by themselves - that person is called the Outlier. We’ll call the other people group A and Group B. If your identity has you sorted into Group A, your only job is to get into a jar with as many Group As as possible. Got a Group B in with you? No big deal! You don’t lose points, that Group B person might just be taking the spot of a potential Group A person. Once the grouping is done, you get 1,000 points for every person you’ve correctly grouped with. Every round, you have the chance to bank those sweet, sweet points, so get with those whom you think you match up well with early.
As for that pesky Outlier, they can’t score points for grouping, so it’s all about the ending for their points. If the majority of people identify the Outlier during the voting rounds (including the Outlier), they each get 5,000 points. The Outlier gets all those points for themselves if a majority is not reached or if they are not identified correctly.
So, hopefully, that clears things up a bit so you can set your strategies.
